WORCESTER Wolves triumphed 106-61 in their National Basketball League Division Two match at home to Oxford Devils.

Wolves fielded a full strength team with Rikki Prince returning from injury to replace Colin Rhooms.

Shooting guard Josh Cooprider was in outstanding form to score four, three-point attempts in the opening three minutes.

Oxford called a time-out with the intention to block Cooprider. Ty Shaw then responded with four excellent power moves to basket and the bewildered visitors were struggling to cope with the American onslaught.

Rick Solvason was then introduced and he responded with some fine shooting that gave Worcester a first quarter lead of 28-15.

The second quarter saw Wolves make further in-roads into the Oxford defence and Keith Jarrett appeared to be causing the visitors major problems as he won key rebounds at both ends of the court.

Shaw and Cooprider combined well to give the Oxford team little opportunity to re-group.

At the buzzer at half-time Shaw outjumped the visitors to score and close the first half 55-29 to Wolves.

Following the break Wolves continued to press with Dean Blake and Wayne Robinson working well to build an impressive scoreline for the home side.

Solvason, Cooprider and Jones were successful from long range and Renaldo Edmonson looked impressive at point guard as Oxford conceded points from all parts of the court. The game went into the final quarter with Wolves leading 87-43.

The game drew to a close and as the home supporters relaxed going into the final seconds, Jarrett received the ball in open play and drove to basket performing a 'reverse dunk' that fittingly closed the game.
