HUNDREDS of pounds have been raised for charity as a result of party in the park events held in Bewdley and Stourport.

The parties, aimed at 10 to 17-year-olds, made £320, which will be given to Childline. Organisers have also promised the events will return in 2006 after double the number of people turned up compared to last year.

Bewdley beat manager, PC Nigel Barter, said: "There were in excess of 200 young people at the Bewdley event and 500 at the Stourport event. Everyone seemed to have a good time."

His Stourport counterpart, PC Jon Harris, Stourport's beat manager, said: "Party in the Park aimed to give young people something to do during the summer holidays.

"Credit must go to the committee of young people who helped organise this year's events, in particular, Abbey Lewis and Chris Edwards."
