WORCESTER Wolves are waiting to hear if they will have key forward Keith Jarrett available for Saturday's National Basketball League Division Two play-off semi-final.

Jarrett was due to fly back to his college in the United States this weekend to begin pre-season preparations.

But Wolves are hoping to delay his return so he can play in Saturday's clash with Westminster Warriors at University College Worcester.

Wolves' Director of Basketball Mick Donovan said: "We are at the mercy of his college. We want him to go and live his dream but as a club we are keen to know where we stand.

"It would be a massive blow if we didn't have him for this game - in our last two games he has been top scorer and has taken as many rebounds as Ty Shaw.

"He trained with us on Tuesday and what we are hoping is that if he hasn't heard anything by the weekend, we will make sure that he can then stay for the final if we win."

Former Birmingham Bullets player Jarrett signed for Wolves after taking a break from his studies at Cloud County Community College in Kansas.

Fellow forward Dean Blake should return to the Wolves squad for Saturday after missing the last two games due to family commitments.

But guard Renaldo Edmondson is a doubt after injuring an ankle in the quarter-final victory over Northampton Neptunes.

Victory on Saturday will take Wolves into the final at Birmingham's National Indoor Arena on May 1 and a further win there should earn them promotion to Division One next season.

However, if they fail to go up they could face the prospect of losing one of their American stars next season.

England Basketball have told the club that teams in Division Two or below will only be allowed to field one overseas player - meaning Wolves would have to release either forward Ty Shaw or guard Josh Cooprider.

Donovan added: "Hopefully that won't happen but it would be a big dilemma if it did. Josh was the top scorer in the league last year and Ty is one of the best rebounders in the league."

Wolves are stressing that tickets for Saturday's game will be available on the door.
