WORCESTERSHIRE CCC players Stephen Moore and James Pipe were guests of honour at the recent prize-giving of Hanley Castle and Upton CC colts section.

The two signed autographs, led some impromptu catching practices and were superb ambassadors as they made the youngsters feel at ease, answering their questions with warmth and humour.

Medals and awards were presented to all of the young cricketers with colts chairman, Grant Mathews, highlighting the achievements of the leading players at each age group.

In only their third full season, Hanley and Upton have seen two colts play for their respective county squads, Will Chambers at U10 and Rory Mathews at U11.

The club's U10 team have swept all before them, winning the South Worcestershire cricket shield and the older colts have started to break into the senior club teams.

The following players received awards:

Best batsman: U10s Tom Bottomley, U11s Rory Mathews, U12s Tom Amery, U14s Jake Lock. Best bowler: U10s Will Chambers, U11s Tristan Robinson, U12s Sam Harler, U14s Josh Lewis.

Most improved: U10s Alistair Hunt, U11s Joe Pantling, U12s Dave Humphreys, U14s James Slater.

Player's player: U10s Tom Bottomley, U11s Will Collins, U12s Jackson McMullen, U14s Barton Mathews.
