WORCESTERSHIRE'S Leslie Law was lying in second place with Shear H2O after the first day of dressage at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials.

Cumbrian rider Ruth Edge was in the lead, holding a 4.3 penalty advantage with Muschamp Impala over double Olympic gold medallist Law.

The Upton-upon-Severn rider has had to withdraw the gelding's younger full brother Shear l'Eau, who was due to be his second Burghley ride.

The 13-year-old has just been called up for Britain's team at next week's European Championships at Blenheim.
