HITS from the 50s and 60s will help the campaign to fund urgent repairs to the spire at Christ Church in Malvern.
Rock of Ages will be providing the music at a dance at the Newtown Club, Newtown Road on Friday, October 7, at 8pm. Tickets are £5 on 01684 572471 or 565516. There will also be a raffle.
The church is applying to the Diocese of Worcester for permission to carry out work to the roof and upper stonework. Strengthening will also be needed on the spire before the winter and it is hoped this can be done in October or November.
The church recently heard that it has been Grade II listed by English Heritage. This will help fundraising, as it will be able to apply for grants and reclaim VAT on work done. An application for English Heritage funds is being prepared with a view to major spire work in autumn next year.
