Further to the parliamentary under secretary of state's letter of August 26, Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Authority would like to reassure people across the two counties that robust arrangements are in place to process all 999 calls under all circumstances. 999 calls will not go unanswered.

The authority has also invested heavily in state-of-the-art mobile information technology that provides our firefighters with a wide range of information at the scene of an incident. This includes details relating to building plans, hazardous materials and water supplies.

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Authority is very proud of the services it provides to our communities and that includes the work of our staff who receive and manage 999 calls. They always work to a very high standard and make a valuable contribution to public safety.

G W Davis, chair of Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Authority.
