THE mother of a schoolboy motorcycle champion who was killed on a race track has paid tribute to her 'perfect son'.

Fourteen-year-old Chris Jones was killed on Bank Holiday Monday, when he was involved in a collision on the starting line of his latest race.

Mother Pam Jones said she was very proud of her son, who had achieved and experienced more in 14 years than many people did in their whole lives.

She said: "I'm very proud to have had a son like him.

"He was loved by everybody. He probably had a girlfriend in every county - he was that type of lad. He was very conscientious and very, very positive. If he didn't like something he didn't do it and the minute he got on a bike his confidence came through."

Mrs Jones said that, apart from motorcycling, Chris was good at drawing, talented at football and had done well in his SATS school exams. "He had the attitude of an 18-year-old, that's why he got a contract with Honda at such an early age.

"We helped him 100 per cent, but he repaid us by 200 per cent. He was never a child who was want, want, want."

Chris, a pupil of Droitwich High School, died when he was competing in the 10th round of the British 125GP Championship race at Cadwell Park, near Louth in Lincolnshire.

Investigators believe the accident happened when Chris's bike stalled and two other competitors crashed into him from behind.
