YVONNE Hopkins contested five finals last weekend when Broadway staged its Finals Weekend in gorgeous weather and reached all four ladies deciders - winning three of them.

The triple topper overcame Viv Hall in the Ladies Open by winning the tie break 2-1, then a repeat contest in the Ladies Handicap saw Hopkins win 21-13.

Hall gained some revenge in the Two-Wood when she edged home 15-13 on the last end.

Hopkins, however, then went on to beat Betty Mansion in the Dorothy Beale Cup 21-18 before teaming up with John Chapman in the Club Pairs only to find Brian Gould and Brian Clarke too strong in a 31-17 reverse.

In the men's section, Paul Speake was too consistent for Steve Aldren in the Whitbread Trophy after 21-9 win, while Ron Ryman comfortably won the Handicap event with a 21-6 defeat of David Dennis.

Phil Taylor beat Dennis Hall in the Two-Wood Final 18-13 in a game that went to the penultimate end.

In the Ken Riley Cup, for members who have not won a singles competition before, John Davies continued his good form with a convincing 21-4 win over Terry Hopkins.

In the Open competition, Ryman and Sue Davies had an epic struggle where there was never more than one or two shots between them before the latter scored five shots without reply to take an 18-14 lead going into the 20th end.

Despite his best efforts, Ryman was unable to claw the shots back and went down 21-17 after 23 ends.

The Cotes Triples Shield saw Mick Barnes, Terry Morley and Phil Taylor facing Maureen Allen, Jeff Dennis and Steve Aldren.

After racing into a 14-0 lead after six ends, Aldren was coasting but Taylor gradually started to come back at him and only lost by three shots in the end.
