LAST Sunday saw the Shakespeare Ladies Avon Championship take place at Hampton Ferry.
Never before has the Warwickshire Avon been so crystal clear and clean, making it very difficult to entice the fish to feed.
Nineteen ladies travelled from all over England to take part and the title was shared by Oxford's Janet Moores (peg 49) and Hea-ther Dewey from Burton-on-Trent (34).
The joint winners both caught 1-7-0, while third-placed Evesham angler Edna Knight weighed in 1.1.8 (38) and fourth-placed Joyce Peters from Stratford netted 1.0.8.
Fishing tackle supplied as sponsorship by Shakes-peare was much appreciated and will be put to good use at the next year's event on September 3.
