TALENTED jazz musicians took to the streets of Pershore to entertain the crowds as part of the annual festival.

The event, the fourth to be held in Pershore, attracted thousands of people who heard performances by Pasadena Roof Orchestra, the Worcester Youth Jazz Orchestra and Antique 6 at the town's art centre, Number 8.

Mayor of Pershore Chris Parsons who attended the festival last Friday said: "The whole event was excellent. It bought so many people into Pershore. It has become one of the town's main events and a showcase for talented musicians. I didn't hear one adverse word said about it."

The four-day event last Thursday to Sunday saw 13 jazz bands perform. In keeping with the theme of a Lifetime in Jazz audiences got the chance to hear musicians aged 14 to 71.

Pershore councillor Val Wood said: "The event is the result of a lot of hard work by a few people and on behalf of Pershore I would like to thank both participants and organisers for making this such a wonderful occasion."
