NEW ZEALANDER Daniel Flynn made the most of his luck to compile the largest score of his career to date.

Flynn, who captained his country's Under 19s at the World Cup in 2004, survived being dropped off his first shot and went on to fire 184 for Barnards Green against Harborne.

Our batsman of the week's total formed a huge partnership with Kevin Golder (112) as Barnards Green revelled in their already-assured promotion from Crusader Worcestershire League Division Two.

Green eventually declared on a colossal 417-6 but Harborne dug in and closed on 159-7 to leave Flynn's side with a winning draw. The 20-year-old said: "It's the biggest score I have ever got. I got dropped first ball so I took advantage and decided to play pretty aggressively. You don't get let off the hook like that too often so I decided to take advantage of it."

Flynn is enjoying a good second season in England after spending 2003 with Barnards Green when the club narrowly missed out on promotion.

And his success is set to continue when he flies home to Tauranga when he takes up a full-time position with the Northern Districts.

"I have scored about 1,150 runs so far this season. I have had a pretty good season," Flynn added. "I haven't scored as many 100s as I would have liked. It was nice to push on and get 100.

"Last time I came out we missed out on promotion by one point so I felt I had left the job unfinished so I was glad to come back and help the boys out."
