AN ex-MG Rover worker from Evesham is looking to bounce back from redundancy by starting his own business.

Graham Brown, aged 55, who worked in engineering operations at the failed car manufacturer, has been chosen as one of 20 people to embark on a groundbreaking programme called Fast Start.

The initiative is backed by Advantage West Midlands and includes delivery partners from University of Warwick Science Park and Job Centre Plus. The programme provides former Rover employees with a combination of business skills and workshops to help them launch their own companies.

Mr Brown said: "I was devastated when the redundancy note came through but in a way it has kick started my desire to be my own boss and I am now genuinely excited at the prospect of launching my own business.

"The Fast Start programme has helped me out a great deal by showing me the many facets of the business, financial, sales, marketing and employment law. Being surrounded by fellow entrepreneurs has been very beneficial and the three of us have come up with a germ of an idea." He was unwilling to expand on his plans, other than to reveal that it was a unique idea. Graham worked for MG Rover for 10 years.
