AN Evesham woman is all set to trek across the Andes to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Lyndsey Smith, of Banner Court, in Castle Street, hopes to raise up to £3,500 as she takes to the mountains with her friend, Elaine Shaw.
She said: "I have committed to this task because cancer affects someone in almost every family, including my own, and I felt I wanted to do something practical to help.
"We will be walking eight to ten hours a day at high altitude and over rough terrain.
To get the ball rolling, Lyndsey has organised a table top sale this Saturday at Church House, Broadway Road, Bengeworth, from 11am to 4pm
On sale will be good quality new and nearly new clothes, books, including local books and prints, toys and bric a brac. There will also be a tombola and raffle, in which the main prize will be archery lessons donated by the Evesham Archery Club.
Lyndsey, who is an assistant manager at Ottakars Bookstore in Worcester, has already organised a sponsored walk at Malvern, a prize draw of signed books and a children's and teachers' book fair in Birmingham later in the year.
