THERE were differing fortunes for division one's newly promoted clubs in the Birdseye Sports Evesham and District Sunday League.

Peopleton sent out a warning to teams not to underestimate them as they began life in the top flight with victory over Moreton Wanderers thanks to a second half strike from Harvey.

Broadway United, meanwhile, were taught a lesson in finishing as Bear hit eight with Ben Gree-nwood scoring four.

Champions Ambassador won at Inkberrow with goals from Emms, Atkinson and Young, while a Fleming strike gave Evesham WMC the points at Upton Snodsbury. Red Horse opened with a five-goal win over Mickleton Rangers with Evesham United's Grant Pinkney on the scoresheet.

Division Two was the scene for an epic contest at Badsey where the Rec Club led Defford and Besford four times before a late strike from Zak Warren made it 5-5.

Two goals from Hinton helped Shipston Excelsior defeat Tewkesbury Town, an own goal edged Bredon passed Willersey, while Bretforton Old Boys hit seven without reply against Oddfellows with Sam Lindley and Paul Jones netting twice.

Eckington started life in Division Three with a seven-goal defeat of newcomers Sporting Theocs.

Moreton Town edged out Bell United thanks to goals from Hurrell, Barnes and Neal that helped overcome a double strike from Roberts.

Goals from Haines (2),Haughty and Holder gave Gardeners a comfortable win over Ashton, while doubles from Sibanda and Little ensured Golden Cross the points at Queens.

Newcomers Blue Maze found life tough in their opening fourth division fixture as they conceded seven to Fairfield Sports.

Riverside won at Broadway Reserves, while two goals from Rowberry gave Bengeworth Sports the points at Pebworth. Print went one better to lead Mill to victory at Lenches Lions.

Division Two started the season one side fewer after Lower Moor United withdrew from the league last Friday.
