Littleton 4, Stockingford 1

FOUR super goals were the features of Saturday's convincing home success.

The first half was played at a fast and furious pace and both sides created plenty of chances.

Early on a Perry Beddoes free kick was narrowly headed over by Robbie Harris then Wayne Hadley fired over an empty goal at the other end.

Matt Staley's pace then took him clear but his centre was headed narrowly over by Joe Wright.

A fine save by Michael Harris denied the visiting centre forward before namesake Robbie's goalline clearance again saved the hosts.

The opening goal came after 41 minutes when Wright controlled the ball, turned, and fired an unstoppable shot into the top corner.

Hadley levelled following a quick throw-in and the match continued at the same pace after the break when Simon Brain struck a post.

However, Littleton weren't to be denied and they regained the lead after 65 minutes when Phil Haines volleyed in from 12 yards.

The hosts were now making all the running and increased the lead five minutes later when a corner from Robbie Hands produced a thundering header from Staley.

It was all Littleton now, as their superior fitness held and the pace of Staley and Wright began to tear large holes in the Stockingford defence.

It came as no surprise then when Wright scored again with another excellent volley - executed with both feet off the ground.

Littleton visit early Mid-land Combination Division One pacesetters Fairfield Villa on Saturday (2.45pm).
