AN INTERESTED spectator at Common Road on Saturday was Pete Birdseye, a former Aylesbury player who now lives in Evesham.
Now 86, Pete moved to the town many years ago and ran the sports shop in Evesham that still bears his name and sponsors the local Sunday League.
Pete spent two seasons with the Ducks in the early 1950s when he helped them reach the semi-final of the FA Amateur Cup.
However, like his son Paul, he didn't make it to the final with the man who made more than 300 appearances for the Wanderers also losing out at the last four stage.
Pete, who was armed with a programme from his time at Aylesbury, bought the sports shop in the early 1970s and ran it until 1984 when he retired.
