racing ferrets, Chinese dancers and a mediaeval morality play are just some of the attractions on offer at this weekend's village produce show in Cradley, near Malvern.

The Cradley Country Fair and Produce Show has been taken almost one year to plan and organisers hope that it will attract hundreds of visitors.

Saturday's show, at Church Stile Farm will open with a performance by the Chinese Lion Dancers, followed closely by Flamenco dancing by Rumores de Espana.

Organiser Chris Lowder said: "It will be a great day out for all the family.

"It's all about trying to get the community together and raise money for the village hall and community projects."

The event, between 2pm and 6pm, has been funded by a £4,000 grant from West Midlands Awards For All and will raise money for the village hall, which has undergone restoration after it was ravaged by fire.

Cradley won this year's Village of the Year competition and residents want to invite visitors to experience village life.

Mr Lowder, aged 60 added: "It not just an event for the village. We want to bring in people from the West Midlands and show people about village life."

As well as a bar and hot food, there will be demonstrations by the Bromyard Bowmen and performances of an updated mediaeval morality play, On The Waggon by The Cradley Players, while youngsters will be entertained by Punch and Judy .

Toes will be tapping in the evening, between 7.30pm and 11.30pm with the Grand Barn Dance.

The following day will see the Grand Musical Allsorts, the Worcestershire Youth Jazz Orchestra and bands such as Neptune and Velvet take to the stage to end a weekend of entertainment.

Saturday's show will cost £1 for adults and 50p for children.

The barn dance will be £10, £5 concession, to include free food.

Sunday's event will cost £2.50 per person, £10 per car.
