CAMPDEN Ladies, sponsored by Pyments, had a great start to their season despite being pipped by Evesham at the annual tournament at Bloc-kley Sports.
They came through their small group stage by a narrow margin with a 1-0 win over Bidford, a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of the hosts and an exciting 2-2 draw with Ilmi-ngton.
Blockley topped the group and went through to face Evesham in one semi-final while runners-up Campden faced FISSC.
Captain Sally Holmes fired in an excellent goal for Cam-pden who then played a tight defensive game to hold on for victory.
Meanwhile, the other semi-final remained scoreless and it was Evesham who eventually won on penalty flicks.
The final proved to be an end-to-end contest with both teams creating chances but unable to find the net.
Campden had one effort disallowed but it was goalless at full time and Evesham again showed their composure from the penalty spot to claim a 3-1 shoot-out success.
