BEWDLEY beat Chaddesley Corbett by five wickets in their latest Division One fixture, with 16 overs to space.

Tom Baylis took the first three wickets, but Robert Combes bowled well with little reward.

Jono Boult replaced Combes and took a wicket with his first ball. Paul Lyman tried to hold the Chaddesley innings together with 25 hard-earned runs before being run out while Boult's spin ran through the batting until Paul Connolly (13no)and Matthew Yardley (5) equalled the highest stand of the innings ,with 20 for the last wicket.

Boult finished with 5-42 and Baylis, who bowled 20 overs, finished on 4-57.

Their figures would have been even better if the spilt catches had been held.

Seven Chaddesley batsmen reached double figures, but only Lyman passed 20.

Boult (28) and Mark Boden (13) put on 42 for the first wicket before Rowan Vorster caused a mini-collapse to 55-3.

Combes hit a bright 23 before two more wickets fell quickly.

Simon Mauger with 32no and Simon Smith saw Bewdley home to victory with a 41-run stand, giving their team 20 points, and the visitors just three.

FOR the second successive week George Bayliss top-scored for Chaddesley's third team, this week achieving 116no. Unfortunately he was unable to prevent Stourbridge Social winning this Division Seven fixture by two wickets.
