A SECURITY training company based in Droitwich has become the first firm in the UK to run a new City & Guilds course.

Train 4 Security - which offers courses and workshops tailored to raising standards in the private security industry - has gained centre approval to deliver the City & Guilds Level 3 certificate.

The course is aimed at trainers and once completed, will allow them to deliver the Level 2 certificate in conflict management.

It comes at a time when research has shown that more than a third - 37 per cent - of people have been verbally abused while at work.

The research, carried out by City & Guilds, lists security personnel as one of the main targets of such aggression.

Phil Ruggiero, chief executive of Train 4 Security, said: "Abuse towards security personnel is a significant problem and it is paramount that they are equipped to deal with such problems."

Richard Hickin, customer relationship manager at City & Guilds, said: "Train 4 Security play a key role in enhancing training standards within the security industry.

"With approval to deliver this course, our aim is to work together to provide delegates with the skills to address violence at work."
