STAFF at a Worcester pub and restaurant have set themselves a challenge of raising £1,000 for Acorns Children's Hospice - and they are asking local people to help.

The Three Pears Beefeater in Warndon is organising a host of fund-raising events during Children's Hospice Week from Saturday, September 17, to Saturday, September 24 including a car wash, quiz night and car boot sale.

Proceeds will go to Acorns which opened a new hospice in Bath Road six months ago.

Beefeater manager Kevin Slade, who along with general manager Evette Newey will be spending a day as a volunteer at Acorns' shop in Mealcheapen Street as part of their support for the charity, said there were lots of great events taking place.

"So come along, support us and help raise much-needed funds," he added.
