TWO musicians described as "legends" of the 1960s are to bring a night of nostalgia and to a Worcester venue.

Mike Pender, the voice of The Searchers, will be performing all of the group's hit records with his band, joined by the well-known Dave Berry.

Mike said: "I'm going to play all the hits. That's what the fans keep asking me to do and it hasn't been done for longer than I can remember.

"It'll be none of this medley stuff. We're going to do every hit and I can't wait."

Favourites including Solitaire, Take Me For What I'm Worth and Goodbye My Love, which have not been played for more than a decade will be performed at the gig, entitled A 60s Night Out. Mike left The Searchers in 1985, to pursue a solo career. He then hand-picked the cream of musicians and vocalists to create the sound he was searching for, and Mike Pender's Searchers was the result.

Joining Mike and his band will be Dave Berry, who will perform all of his hit records from the days of Dave Berry & The Cruisers, as well as his solo success songs.

A spokesman for the event, to be staged at Huntingdon Hall on Saturday, September 17, said: "Dave created a stage act that has, in turn, gone on to influence others, with names such as Garry Glitter, Adam Ant and Alvin Stardust openly admitting the influence he has had on their careers.

"Meanwhile his work on record continues to be remembered for its individualism."

Promoting his records, Dave made regular appearances on television shows such as Thank Your Lucky Stars, Top of the Pops and Ready Steady Go.

"It was on television that Dave perhaps made his biggest impact with his unique and totally visual presentation," added the spokesman.

"Whether hiding behind a stage prop or slowly lowering the microphone down his back, audiences would be compelled to watch his every move and gesture."
