A MALVERN couple's disabled children can now enjoy playing in a garden converted especially for them.
Julie Baylis and Spiros Vlachos decided to adapt their garden because Alexandros, aged five, and Aliki, three, both have a life-limiting disease.
On Saturday, they held a garden party at their Broadland Drive home to celebrate the completion of the project. Guests were friends and relatives who helped raise £4,000 towards the work.
Alison Hammond, the former Big Brother contestant who now presents on ITV's This Morning, opened the event.
A Midlands-based charity, Promise Dreams, contributed a further £5,000 to help fund the garden. It supports families with seriously-ill children, helping them to fulfil their wishes.
The remodelled garden has ramps, soft tarmacadam-type surfaces and other adaptations to make it safe and fun for disabled children.
Julie's father, Joe Baylis, who is in his 70s, finished off the construction work, after earlier difficulties with a contractor.
"Getting it built was touch and go but now it's finished and it's wonderful," said Julie.
"We had about a 100 people coming in on Saturday to see what we have done. We just wanted to say thank-you to all the friends and relatives who helped us out by raising money. They were the ones who made it possible."
