I refer to your article regarding the closure of the Hawthorn Inn.
I have lived in Malvern Wells for over 22 years and have treated the Hawthorn Inn as my 'local'.
I attended the 'Last Supper' on Saturday night with other regulars that I recognised from Worcester, Castlemorton, Welland, Longdon, Malvern Wells, Birtsmorton and Great Malvern. As usual, the locals were noticeable by their absence, which says it all.
Most people would agree that a village pub, together with the village shop, should be a focal point but this requires the villagers' support for survival. The regulars will miss the excellent food and company. I wish Anne and Jim well.
