VEGETABLES, fruit and crafts were on display at Upton-upon-Severn Garden Club's annual show on Saturday.

The open show welcomed everyone to exhibit produce and crafts in the town's Memorial Hall.

Club secretary Liz Jones said: "There were fewer entries this year, but the judges were still impressed with the standard.

"The hall was filled with fine handicrafts, colourful floral art and the best flowers, fruit and vegetables our local gardeners could produce."

Regular exhibitor Jack Payne won two categories and best in show for his fruit and vegetable entry.

New club member Joyce Baimbridge, from Twyning, was extremely successful, gaining four trophies for her floral artwork.

The children's section is an area the club wants to improve, as there were again not enough entries for the 13 to 16-year-olds' section to be judged. It is hoped enthusiasm for the event will grow in the younger groups.

Mrs Jones thanked members, visitors and businesses for making the show enjoyable.
