MEMBERS of Staunton Parochial Church Council are hoping for a fine, warm day on Sunday when they will be serving cream teas as a fundraising event for Staunton Parish Church. The event will be held at The Hill, Staunton, by kind permission of Mr and Mrs J Luard, but there will be no problem if the weather should be wet, as a marquee will be brought into use.

The family service on the first Sunday in the month was conducted by The Rev. Penny Hamer, curate, with a fair congregation for holiday time. The lesson reader was Michael Bradbury. During the celebration of holy communion, Ursula Groves-Smith assisted. The offertory was taken by Marion Bartlett and the organist was Margaret Riley. The church was looking particularly colourful following the wedding the previous day of Jessica Anne Sysum to Jonathan Parsons, which was conducted by The Rev. Canon John Evans.

The third companion dog show of Staunton and Corse will be held on Sunday from 11am on Corse and Staunton Playing Fields on the A417 Gloucester to Ledbury Road. The show is in aid of the Rottweiler Welfare Charity and bookings are taken from 11am at £1 per class. In addition, there will be refreshments with a bar, some stalls and a raffle and tombola.
