YOUNGSTERS in Worcester have had a very active summer thanks to a
Co-op donation of £1,000.
Streets Ahead, in Dines Green, offers its members a range of educational, training and recreational activities and used its Co-op award to fund a summer programme of exciting events, including paintballing, kayaking, and rafting as well as learning how to DJ.
"The project has given our members the opportunity to take part in activities which are not normally available to them and they've had a very productive summer," said youth development worker Sian Gray.
The donation came from the Co-op's Community Dividend fund, part of the Co-operative Group's Dividend customer loyalty card scheme which allows shoppers to donate the extra pence in their twice-yearly Dividend payouts to worthy causes.
Approximately £100,000 is available annually to support charities and community groups in the region, with local Co-op members' committees allocating the awards throughout the year based on a set of values and principles such as social responsibility and caring for others
Application forms are available in Co-operative Group stores.
