A MOTHER-OF-THREE from Pershore will be doing it for the girls when she competes in the ELF Renault Clio Cup.

Amy Chambers is now the only woman competing in this year's event and is keeping up to speed with her male competition.

The 37-year-old landscape gardener, who comes from a family of motorsport competitors, has just three meetings left of 10 events.

"Racing is in my blood," she said.

"The thrill of driving at such high speeds is amazing and I'm thoroughly enjoying the experience of competing in my first full year.

"Juggling my career and three children is quite tough but the support of my family has enabled me to dedicate enough time to compete for a full racing season.

"I was very pleased with my first race and proved to everyone I could race with much more experienced drivers than myself.

"The next step is consistency and I hope to get close to a podium finish before the season ends."

Amy is currently in 16th place in the racetrack competition, out of 22 drivers.

She feels at home among the racing fraternity, being married to Peter Chambers of Peter Chambers Motor Racing in Pershore.

The only other woman in the competition has pulled out, leaving her to take on the men single-handedly.

Amy has received a major boost this season with the backing of quarrying firm Aggregate Industries' business divisions, Bardon Contracting and Bardon Concrete, companies that supply asphalt for roads in Worcestershire and the Midlands.

To complete the competition, Amy will race at Donington Park this weekend and Brands Hatch at the beginning of October.
