HOW on Earth are we old 'uns supposed to cope if our local emergency unit closes.
It's traumatic enough having to be rushed into an emergency unit without the added upset of travelling miles.
When it is a relative or soulmate, it is hard to think you may have to travel miles by bus or pay expensive taxi fares. Old bones don't travel well and we can't all afford taxis.
The buses are unreliable and not regular enough for hospitals at any distance. We need our emergency units and hospital to stay local.
