POLICE have warned of the dangers of messing with fireworks after an elderly woman had one pushed through her letterbox in Upperfield Close, Church Hill North, on Saturday evening.
Fortunately, the firework was contained in the wire letter basket and only minimal damage was caused.
A police spokesman said: "We want to emphasise once again that people should never throw fireworks or post them through letterboxes. This is an offence and the results can be devastating."
