HARD-HITTING batsman Pete Butler is the new Colwall Cricket Club captain after a unanimous vote at the club's annual general meeting on Monday.

Butler said he will develop a team that plays hard, attacking cricket and is passionate about achieving promotion nest season. He also said that he will develop a team that will have fun on and off the field.

Previous captain, Tom Wolfendale, who will take over as vice-captain, did not contest the position and congratulated Pete.

He said: "It is right that as the club moves into the Worcestershire League that there is a new man at the helm."

Club chairman Gary King thanked Tom for all his efforts in recent seasons and warmly welcomed Pete Butler as club captain.

Most other key positions are the same as last year.

A new constitution was passed that will see Colwall CC being awarded Clubmark status in the near future.
