COLWALL kept up their unbeaten run with a 4-1 win against Stroud at the Ledbury Leisure Centre on Saturday.

COLWALL WHC 4, STROUD 1

The match started evenly, with both sides having goal scoring chances and goalkeepers called into action. Colwall opened the scoring when Jackie Styles provided the cross for Gemma Richards to divert the ball into the roof of the net.

Colwall went further ahead when Nicky Glover maintained her excellent goal-scoring record to make the score 2-0. Sam Shail then converted a cross from Gemma Richards at the far post for a 3-0 lead at half-time.

Stroud came back strongly in the second-half and, following a period of sustained pressure, pulled the score back to 3-1. Good defending by Jill Miles, Laura Entwistle, Melinda Bennett and sweeper Lucy Halligan, combined with some good saves by keeper Carole Ward, held Stroud at bay.

Coral Handley sealed the result for Colwall when she successfully converted a penalty flick.

Tomorrow (Saturday), Colwall are away against Leominster at Bridge Street, starting at 10.30am.
