INSPIRED by a visit to the Autosports International Show at the NEC in January, Michelle Nixon from Little Malvern decided to apply to race in the 2005 Channel Four Formula Woman car racing series.
Over 4000 women applied, and after careful selection this number was reduced to 1,800 competitors.
Since then the 22-year-old has undertaken an assessment day at Dunsfold Park in Surrey and achieved the highest scoring fitness test of the week and through a gutsy drive, secured herself a place in the final 100.
After gaining her MSA Racing Licence at Thruxton race circuit on Monday, Michelle is entered to compete in her racing debut at Pembrey race circuit, South Wales, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday in a Caterham sports car.
The race will be filmed by Channel Four, as part of an ongoing series to be televised next year.
In order to compete successfully, Michelle requires financial backing and is therefore looking for any companies to advertise on her race car, suit and helmet, all of which will be seen on national television.
Michelle is no stranger to the track, although she has spent little time on it, as her father is established racer Dave Nixon, who won last year's Rover Turbo Cup after victory in the final round at Donington.
Anyone interested should contact Michelle on 07890 596723 or 01684 564227.
