A NEW dental practice will provide care for 5,000 Malvern residents.
A Birmingham-based dentist this week applied for planning permission to create a surgery on Spring Lane.
The Department of Health would fund two dentists to operate at the practice, which is due to open in May 2006.
Consultant in dental public health Alan McMichael said South Worcestershire Primary Care Trust was making ongoing efforts to improve access to NHS dental care.
"The surgery is part of plans to restore access to NHS dentistry in Malvern, which has suffered over the last couple of years," he said.
Future plans involve further expansion of the Richmond Road surgery in Malvern Link and a dental facility at Malvern's new Health Centre in Townsend Way.
