AFTER another mid-week injury, the Villagers took to the road with only 12 players in tow, two carrying injuries themselves.

SARACEN RANGERS 4, VILLAGERS 1

Saracen, still unbeaten in the league, were looking to win well and the Villagers could sense it was not going to be their day.

When the appointed referee failed to show up, Villagers' only fit substitute left the ground before they were told the game would be on as the refs' assessor was there and would take charge.

This proved to be the end before the start as two more players pulled hamstrings on a boggy pitch.

Saracen started well and scored early but this seemed to spur the Villagers on and at half-time the score remained 1-0.

Second-half could not have started any worse and after a mistake by Nathan Wanklin, the visiting striker rushed on to beat his man with ease and blast past Sadi Ali in the Villagers' goal.

Neil Morgan was unlucky after 75 minutes not to get the Villagers back into the game but the keeper saved from close range.

A late goal from injured substitute Phil Wild was Villagers only reply after 80 minutes.

Goalkeeper Sadi Ali tried his best to keep the score down and, even carrying a back injury, pulled off some good saves to keep the final score to 4-1.

Man-of-the-match was Mark Wild.

Special mentions to Mark Wild and Tom Smith who have established themselves as great additions to the defence in the last few weeks.
