Last Sunday afternoon, around 50 people gathered at St Peter's Church, Powick to hear historian David Oliver give an interesting and informative talk on the history of the development of the church as it stands today.

Beginning with a tour outside, he pointed out differences in building stone and designs which marked different stages in the building, including many styles evident in the window designs. Inside Mr Oliver explained how church ritual and customs of worship resulted in the present structure.

Tea and biscuits were served and Mr Oliver was thanked by Peter Gedge, chairman of the Friends of St Peter's. A total of £116 was raised, which will go towards making a new garden of remembrance within the churchyard. To join the Friends of St Peter's, ring Terry Maple on (01905) 831739.
