ONE of Redditch's very own stars in the making can be seen on the small screen over Christmas in an entertainment extravaganza dedicated to Lionel Bart's much-loved musical Oliver!.

Jack Montgomery, who is in Year 9 at St Augustine's RC High School in Hunt End, will appear in the programme as one of Fagin's gang and as a workhouse boy on BBC1 at 6.45pm on Boxing Day.

Jack will also be filming for Christmas Miracle of Jonathon Twomey over the festive period in readiness for its film release this time next year.

This is not the first time Jack has been in the limelight.

Other acting credits include starring as Chip the Teacup in Beauty and the Beast at the Birmingham Hippodrome alongside Matthew Kelly and portraying Jeremy in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang alongside Jason Donovan and Russ Abbot in the West End.

He was also in the Cameron Mackintosh and Disney production of Mary Poppins in 2004 at the Bristol Hippodrome and London Prince Edward Theatre and made an appearance in the film Brassed Off.

A St Augustine's spokesman said: "He's clearly a bright young star with a great future ahead of him."

Jack has had a busy time recently as he was also in London last week auditioning for a part in another film.
