A MAN who was found crouching over the body of his wife after he had butchered her has been told he will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Glynn Dix, of Seymour Drive, Abbeydale, stabbed his wife Hazel to death on June 19 last year before decapitating her and dismembering the body.

At Birmingham Crown Court on Friday, Dix, 51, was sentenced to life in prison after his guilty plea was accepted.

Insp Tony Love, who led the investigation into Mrs Dix's death, said: "We are satisfied with how the investigation has been carried out and welcome today's outcome.

"Glynn Dix will serve the rest of his natural life in prison."

The 54-year-old victim, a mother-of-six, had met her husband while visiting a relative in jail.

Dix was then serving life in prison for the murder of another woman.

Insp Love said: "This has been a particularly difficult and upsetting time for the family of Hazel Dix and we hope today's sentencing will provide them with some comfort and help them to rebuild their lives.

"Our thoughts are with them today."

Mrs Dix's brother said: "We have all lost a sister, mother, grandmother and a very dear friend.

"No words can describe the devastation this family feels about a man who gave the impression of being a quiet, loving, caring person.

"We were all taken in by his deceit."
