SIR, The review of warden provision in sheltered housing is obviously causing concern to Mrs Chambers and many others who will be affected by the actions of Worcester Community Housing if they decide to impose the changes proposed.

You would think that everyone would sympathise with those who fear the loss of security the resident wardens provide - everyone, it would appear, apart from Councillor Stephen Inman.

His letter (December 16) appears to have him washing his hands of any responsibilities towards the elderly of this city. His party negotiated the transfer of housing to WCH in order to free the council of the burden of public housing provision and now, it seems, his only concern is to declare that the proposed changes are nothing to do with him or his party.

He doesn't appear to show a shred of sympathy for the concerns of the elderly nor does he offer, as a councillor, to attempt to persuade WHC that their proposals may not be in the best interests of the elderly concerned. No doubt the elderly will remember this at the next local elections.

A REECE,

Worcester.
