PHIL Taylor's protege Adrian Lewis displayed his Ladbrokes.com World Championship credentials with a clinical 3-0 victory over Worcestershire's Dave Honey in the first round at Purfleet's Circus Tavern.
The 20-year-old from Stoke gave a glimpse of why some pundits are predicting he could meet the 12-times world champion in the final.
Lewis mixed some good darts with a few low scores, but he still outclassed his opponent, a Droitwich taxi firm boss.
A 121 check-out clinched the opening set and it was a stroll for the world number 20 until Honey belatedly found his range, the qualifier missing a great chance to make it 2-1 before Lewis wrapped it up with his fourth dart at double top.
