Nearly three-quarters of workers do not expect to receive a Christmas bonus this year, a survey has showed.
But among people who are expecting one, men think they are in line for twice as much as women at an average of £1,600, compared with women's £818, according to the figures from One account.
Seven out of 10 people expecting a bonus admitted they would blow the money within a month of receiving it, while just 9 per cent said they would save it and 7 per cent said they would spread it out across the year.
But only 32 per cent planned to spend their bonus on themselves, with 58 per cent saying they would use it to treat their partner.
Debbie Milsom, of One account, said: "Although there have been many reports of six-figure bonuses in the City, it seems that the majority of people are not expecting a year-end bonus."
