STATE of the art communications technology supplied by a Worcestershire company help-ed David Cameron win his battle for the Tory leadership.
Now the voting is over, the Cameron camp has revealed that SMS text messaging was essential to its success.
For the 13-week campaign, supporters of Mr Cameron frequently used PC to SMS text messages through FASTSMS.
co.uk, which is based at Stockwood Business Park, near Inkberrow.
"People expected us to be efficient communicators, so it was vital that we used the best possible tools," said Daniel Ritterband, Mr Cameron's campaign communications manager. "The alternatives would have been e-mails, pagers or telephone calls, all of which take time to implement and would have meant unacceptable delays."
The Cameron campaign used FASTSMS for delivering up-to-the-minute information on briefings, visits, TV appearances and statements.
Party members, supporters and members of the public were able to register for updates, which let them know when Mr Cameron was visiting their constituency.
"We chose FASTSMS.co.uk because it was the leading system, and it was a very straightforward process to set up and use," added Mr Ritterband.
FASTSMS is part of the NetSecrets group and other FASTSMS clients include the London St John's Ambulance, SSP Rail, Search and Rescue organisations and many public and private organisations.
