MEMBERS of Evesham Wheelers headed out for the club's Xmas run on Sunday.

Elmley Castle was passed through first before passing over the river at Eckington on the way to coffee at Combe Garden Centre.

The riders then headed to Pershore, Fladbury and on to the Dolphin at Bishampton for dinner.

After a good day out, the 20 riders staggered back to Evesham and home after covering 35 miles.

Seven riders had earlier been in action in Hillingdon near London where first off in the youth race were Cameron Smalley, Tom Stockdale, Nathan Cox and debutant Louise Cox.

All rode well with Stockdale finishing fifth overall and Smalley sixth. Nathan rode well getting used to the tight corners, while Louise rode her little legs off to finish the 25 minutes of racing.

Next was the men's race featuring Ben and Paul Stockdale and James Stout.

Again, all performed well despite the latter having a lap out on after a blow-out.

Ben was riding strong at the front of the bunch with some big name elite racers but old-timer Paul who sprinted for the line and to claim 11th place.

Members are asked to make their own way to the Boat Inn at Ashleworth for the traditional lunchtime meet up of Cheltenham area cyclists.
