SIR - David Cameron made one very firm promise in his campaign for the leadership of the Conservative Party.
He said he would withdraw his MEPs immediately from the group to which they belong in the European Parliament which promises ever-closer integration into the EU which is supposed to be against Conservative policy. Following Cameron's election, the Conservative leader in the EU Parliament was already saying the earliest this could happen was 2009 because of promises already made. William Hague, the new shadow foreign secretary, has said it will take some time to review the situation. In other words, it seems that Cameron is no different from any other politician.
