Alexander and Yuri Goruppa feed the swans at South Quay, Worcester, as experts say hungry birds are flocking to riversides because they know food is on offer. Nick Lee, of Bishops Wood Swan Rescue Centre, near Stourport-on-Severn, said: "They're a juvenile flock and they know where to get an easy meal." He encouraged people to carry on feeding the birds and recommended a swan favourite. "They will go ballistic for lettuce, but any delicate greens will do. Brown bread is better than white, but white bread is better than nothing."
