THE driver of a Volkswagen Polo, injured when it was in collision with a Jeep Cherokee on the B4424 at Callow End, is still critical but stable in hospital.

The man was travelling towards Upton-upon-Severn at 10.30pm on Friday, December 23, when he suffered life-threatening injuries in the incident.

Neither the woman driver of the second vehicle - travelling towards Worcester - nor her passenger was hurt.

After being freed by firemen using cutting gear, the injured man was taken by ambulance to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

He was later transferred to the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham.

Worcester police still want to trace the driver who flashed his headlights to warn oncoming motorists of the collision.

A police spokesman said: "The driver, or anyone in his car, may have vital information about the collision - even if they don't think so themselves. We would very much like him - or anyone who was with him - to call us as soon as possible."

Anyone who saw the collision - or either of the vehicles being driven earlier - is asked to contact police on 08457 444888, quoting reference number 780S/231205.
