A BIRMINGHAM-based company has relocated to Worcestershire because of its better communications and facilities.

Fisher Foundries, has taken over new freehold premises at Stoford Developments' Stonebridge Cross warehouse site in Droitwich in a move managed by property consultants Phoenix Beard.

The deal sees Fisher Foundries' original premises - a 2.4 acre manufacturing site in Sparkhill dating back to early 1900s - being bought by Kalsi Plastics for an undisclosed sum.

The relocation of Fisher Foundries had to be carefully orchestrated to ensure the continuity of the business.

Andy Blackwell, managing director, said it was imperative that the everyday business was not affected by a period of "homelessness".

"Phoenix Beard developed a strategy whereby we liquidated the original asset but remained in situ until we had purchased new premises."

"This is a third generation family business running from our site in Sparkhill which has been a very successful location for us. But our business has moved on and we needed a modern generation warehouse and distribution facility."

Jason Adderley, Stoford's Business Development Manager said: "We're delighted to welcome Fisher Foundries to the site as their relocation from Birmingham is further evidence of the location, workforce and environmental benefits provided at Droitwich."

The latest deal at Stonebridge Cross follows hot on the heels of other disposals to Black Country firms Alutrade Products and CMCS."
