DEMANDING Dave Busst has ordered his lacklustre Evesham United players to show fight in tomorrow's Southern Premier Division clash with Merthyr Tydfil (3pm).

The Robins boss slammed Tuesday's 'embarrassing' 4-0 home defeat to fellow strugglers Cirencester Town, a result that sent United spinning into the bottom three.

Busst was riled with his side's abject defeat -- their heaviest in the league this season -- and admits a positive riposte at Common Road is the only possible way to compensate the club's supporters.

"We were embarrassing. I was embarrassed," lamented Busst. "The lads know they let themselves down, let the club down and let me down.

"Cirencester were up for it and we weren't, simple as that. It was a typical after-Christmas game. We were lethargic and there was no tempo to our game. That's what was disappointing.

"We lost personal battles all over the pitch and defensive frailties cost us. It was the same old mistakes.

"Cirencester knew they were in a relegation zone position and we looked complacent, as though we thought we were better than our league position suggests.

"I cannot accept that performance. We're in the bottom three now and we are going to have to work twice as hard to get out of it.

"I need battling qualities at the club and if players aren't prepared to battle, then they know I'll bring players in who will."

Busst was disappointed to lose former Kidderminster Harriers forward Matt Lewis, who signed for Nationwide North side Kettering Town.

United instead fielded Jermaine Clarke, back from a two-month loan at Redditch, and Busst is demanding big things from the tall striker.

He said: "It's time for Jermaine to deliver for us. It's no longer any use saying he's young and this, that and the other. He's got everything we need of a centre-forward -- strong, quick and aggressive. But he must deliver."

The influential Gavin O'Toole and defender Richard Robinson return from suspension tomorrow.
