THOUSANDS of people escaped the leftover turkey to take to the Malvern Hills on Boxing Day.

The Conservators logged more than 2,000 visitors on what is traditionally their busiest day of the year.

Those who braved the cold weather were warmly greeted by wardens out in force at popular spots such as British Camp and Gardener's Quarry.

Warden and car park attendant Robin Hill said that although the hills were not quite as busy as last year, around 1,000 cars still used the car parks on Boxing Day.

Christmas Day was also busy, with British Camp car park full by 10am.

Mr Hill said: "The hills always seem popular over Christmas. I suppose it's because of people walking off their dinners."
